Windmill Inn

Bed and Breakfast

Windmill Inn is located in picturesque Wapiti Valley, known for its stunning beauty and unique rock formations.  Teddy Roosevelt called it “the most scenic 52 miles in America”. We’re conveniently located approximately 30 miles to Yellowstone and 20 miles to Cody, Wyoming.  Our central location provides a good base to enjoy Yellowstone Park, Buffalo Bill Center of the West museum, white water rafting, fishing, hunting, hiking, and nightly rodeos in Cody.

Located on 50 acres, adjacent to BLM, so lots of room to roam.  The main house has two guest rooms upstairs (Offutt and Wapiti rooms), a full bath upstairs, powder room downstairs, dining room, solarium, and poolroom with 60” TV, sitting areas, and fireplace.

There is a two night minimum stay and no children allowed.

No matter what window you look out, there is always a view that is breath taking. It’s a great location to escape into Yellowstone or into Cody itself. There is so much to explore in the area. The rooms are so cozy and the blueberry pancake breakfast was yummy. Thanks, Suzie and Rod, for being such fantastic hosts and for sharing your knowledge and folklore of the area.

My family was in Cody for the 4th of July. In 2 days we stuffed in the Buffalo Bill Museum, German Food, The Cody Stampede Rodeo, The 4th of July Fireworks, river rafting and fishing the Shoshone River. Rod and Suzie’s Windmill Inn served as an awesome base camp and we went from one adventure to the next. Rod gave us the intel to take in Cody in the “local” way while Suzie kept us fueled up with excellent cooking. Rod is a nature guide up in Yellowstone so he was super helpful in mapping out the rest of our trip in the Park. These folks are great!

We loved our stay here. The cottage was very homey and we felt like we were visiting family, Rod and Suzie are very welcoming and friendly. Rod even played soccer with my boys in the driveway 🙂 Thank you for having us and we hope to be back some day!

Feel at home while enjoying your holiday

Suzie and Rod have been married for over 30 years. They met in Cody Wyoming where Suzie was born and raised. They moved to California, where Rod grew up, and raised three wonderful children, Ben, Sara and Sam. Rod retired after a 28 year career with East Bay Municipal Utility District where he helped manage 28,000 acres of open space as a Ranger Supervisor, coached lots of the kids’ sports teams, and took the family skiing, hunting and fishing. Suzie chauffeured the children to all their events, worked for various catering businesses, and owns and operates Suzie’s Cookies.

We also own and operate Grub Steak Expeditions, so if you’d like a tour, please book through Grub Steak Expeditions. We also have four cats, two dogs, two mules, and one horse. All of our animals are outside animals, but the cats come running when guests arrive and expect to accompany them into the house.
